About

A few years ago, I found myself in a bind for summer childcare with four young kids, ages 1-8. I hired a capable teenager to be their caregiver for the month, and to help her out, I created themed activity sheets called "Recipes For Fun." Fast forward to today, my kids still reminisce about how much they loved those activities. That's when I realized these fun, easy-to-follow ideas could be a lifesaver for other caregivers, parents, or even grandparents looking to create memorable moments with their children.

NICE TO MEET YOU

I'm Elizabeth Strom

As a mom of four, my husband and I are doing our best to raise our children while juggling the demands of everyday life. Before motherhood, I was a Sports Camp Counselor at a University and a chaperone for a touring children's choir. After having kids, I coached volleyball, volunteered in schools, worked for a non-profit teaching financial literacy to students, and even served on our local school board. I absolutely love kids, but I know firsthand how challenging it can be to be a caregiver. There are days when mom guilt creeps in, and you feel like you’re not doing enough, especially when energy and creativity are running low. That’s why I created "Recipes For Fun"—to help busy parents create lasting memories with their children through easy, cost-effective, and fun activities that make the most of those precious moments together.

My Story

As a little girl, I dreamt of being a mom of four children - two boys and two girls.  My dream started late for me as I got married at 31.  Within 4 months of my 40th birthday I had four children - two boys and two girls under the age of 7.  God had planned my dream better than I could have imagined.

After returning to work following the birth of my last child, I hired a young nanny to help out while our regular sitter was on holiday. To make things easier for her, I created "Recipes For Fun" activities that she could use to keep the kids entertained. Years later, my children were fondly reminiscing about those activities, and I realized others might also find these ideas useful for creating lasting memories with their little ones.

"My own kids enjoyed the activities so much when our nanny used them - it's what inspired me to create more to share with others."

" The activities are primarily designed to use household objects or easy to use printables."

"Recipes For Fun not only contain an assortment of purposeful play and games but always have an educational and a reading element."

What I wish someone had told me

When my family moved to the heart of Canada, I knew just one person and faced the challenge of raising two small children while working. As our family grew with two more kids, finding reliable childcare became a struggle, and I eventually chose to leave the workforce to care for them full-time.

Parenting can be overwhelming and exhausting, especially when you're navigating it alone. I often wished for ready-made activities that were easy, required little planning, used common household items, and didn't break the bank. If I can make another mom's day a bit easier by sharing these activities, it means the world to me.
